When Is The Cloud Right For You?

Email | Print

Many businesses are looking at the cloud as a possible way to deploy popular business management technology including  enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions.  How do you know if the cloud is right for you?  Here are a few things to consider.

    1. What do you have at hand?: Some mid- to large-sized businesses have the benefit of their own IT department, servers, and other hardware needed to deploy today’s powerful ERP and CRM solutions. If you are a smaller business or simply don’t have an IT department that can manage this type of equipment, then a cloud deployment may be the right option. With cloud-computing, you work through a web browser and don’t need to spend as much time maintaining the hardware or software which is managed behind the scenes by your software provider/cloud host.
    2. Name your price: The cost for the hardware and IT expertise needed to deploy an ERP or CRM solution can be pricy depending on what you have and what you need to update. For the same reasons noted above, on-premise solutions may not be immediately affordable to new start-ups or smaller business.   Cloud-computing levels the playing field by enabling small businesses to have powerful technology without the budget-busting upfront costs. The cloud offers flexible software licensing options that can scale up or down depending on need, no hardware to maintain, and a predictable monthly cost you can afford.
    3. How mobile are you?: The marketplace is becoming increasingly reliant on mobile businesses. You may already have sales teams or field teams that are consistently out of the office meeting and working with customers. Cloud computing can bridge that gap in communication and collaboration. Field teams can enter and access data using their tablets and smartphones through the web browser. They can take new customer orders, check on existing ones, and enter or use other data within the ERP and CRM solutions. As a result, you have real time data to use to keep your business moving forward.

There are many benefits to using the cloud to deploy your business management solutions.  If you still aren’t sure whether the cloud is good for you contact Collins Computing.  The experts at Collins Computing can answer your questions and provide the resources you need to make the right decision for your exact business needs.
