The typical sales order process has many steps involving numerous people within each organization. From the point the order is taken through sales, customer service or numerous electronic methods all the way through the pick and pack operations – each order has many chances to have errors introduced to them. Most organizations have spent countless hours and implemented many systems to optimize each of these processes to insure order accuracy before the order ever leaves the four walls of the distribution center.
But the one area that is always left out is the final step – the process of actually shipping the order out the door. No matter how well the order was placed, how the sophisticated the pick and pack process is, or even how many orders are ran through the order inspection process, which is intended to insure order accuracy, this is where most organizations stop their internal processes around the sales orders.
With Appolis’ WithoutWire™ (WoW) Warehouse solution’s loading functionality clients can take this order traceability process all the way until the order actually leaves the four wall of the distribution facility. WoW’s loading features include shipping container final scanning onto the carrier’s trucks – either parcel, Less Then Truck Load (LTL) or Full Truck Load. This ensures that every container that is tied to an order is rescanned at the point of shipment to insure they are loaded on the correct truck. Along with this scan verification, the solution also allows for capturing of trailer seal numbers, truck driver signature and even the ability to capture real-time photos of the loaded containers that can then be tied to the order shipment transactions.
The loading scans, driver signature and photos can then all be reported on in real-time through standard system reports providing full organizational visibility to these order details. These details can also be integration in real-time back to the ERP system if that is required.
