Commerce in Motion commissioned a new study to gauge the ability of distribution companies to effectively track, trace, and recall products, both inside the enterprise and up and down the supply chain. Nearly 130 supply chain and operations executives from Consumer Packaged Goods, Life Sciences, and Food & Beverage companies shared their capabilities, concerns, and plans for managing traceability and recalls. The study yielded some interesting findings, which are summarized in this infographic.
An area that of course interests me the most is that only 18.9% of these companies have their processes fully automated. But the majority still say they feel confident in their ability to track items across their supply networks. But 55.1% do say they plan to implement or upgrade technology within 5 years. I think Microsoft Dynamics GP for the distribution industry should be on their short list.
