Business Intelligence Integration with Existing Systems Makes a World of Difference

According to recent data collected by Technology Evaluation Centers, a consulting firm that helps organizations research, evaluate, and select software solutions, integration with existing systems is a key criterion in selecting business intelligence solutions.  An overwhelming number of survey respondents said it would be important or very important to know what business intelligence (BI) systems offer the best integration with their existing systems.  That response was consistent across companies of all sizes, and also among respondents at all levels of those companies.

Business intelligence provides insight by giving you access to your data for decision making through dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and ad hoc and pre-configured reporting.  By integrating disparate systems, organizations can eliminate individual information silos and provide consistent information across all functional areas, business segments, and levels within that organization.  Equally important, integrating the data within a business intelligence system allows you to compare data housed in separate systems to find trends, causes, correlations, and interrelationships that would not be possible using data in any of the individual systems alone.

Using BIO, we’ve integrated ERP data with CRM data and data from many other applications including time clock, operations, retail, and manufacturing solutions.  When combined with BIO’s built-in content—such as pre-defined calculations, reports, hierarchies, and relationships—BIO users get an extremely valuable view of their data that would be difficult at best to obtain by other means.  Many companies we’ve spoken to have tried to integrate the data themselves, using Excel, for example.  But do-it-yourself solutions can compound the problems, turning highly paid business professionals into data gatherers who spend a lot of time cleaning and massaging data and reconciling results.

Using a business intelligence solution to integrate the data from multiple systems can make a world of difference for an organization, streamlining reporting, increasing productivity, and better preparing companies for the future.  It keeps everyone on the same page and ensures consistent and accurate reporting and analysis for strategic and operational decision making.  Using BIO to integrate your Microsoft Dynamics ERP with other databases puts you way ahead of the game because of BIO’s deep connectors to Microsoft Dynamics databases and rich content.
